Mary Jane Guffey received a certificate in landscape design from the New York Botanical Garden following a successful career in corporate communications. A native Virginian, she received her earliest inspiration from the classic landscapes of Mt. Vernon, Washington, D.C. and The University of Virginia, her alma mater. Based in Redding, her current work focuses on residential design and "enhanced landscapes" that take advantage of the natural terrain, wooded areas and shared views common to the Northeast.

Recent projects have included public gardens in Westport and Harrison, New York and landscapes for residences in Westchester, Fairfield and Berkshire counties.

Mary Jane also serves on the garden staff at New Pond Farm. A member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers and the Wilton Chamber of Commerce, she has spoken at horticultural societies and garden clubs throughout Fairfield County.
